Job Opportunity: Health Informatics Researchers, NORC, University of Chicago
NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking health informatics professionals to support a growing portfolio of high profile client projects within its Health Sciences Department. Successful candidates may come from a wide range of professional backgrounds including research, policy analysis, consulting, health care administration, health informatics, academia or health care delivery. Successful candidates will have familiarity with health systems such as electronic health records and clinical decision support and/or significant experience in social research on health IT adoption and policy.
Responsibilities include:
Providing substantive input to task leaders and project directors; Analyzing data collected during pretests and main components of studies in accordance with professional standards; Assisting with the design of experiments and other methodological research for data collection efforts (qualitative and/or quantitative);
Bringing an understanding of the literature and seminal research of the informatics/health IT field and participating in writing publication quality research reports.
This position also has responsibility for assisting in the development of grant applications and contract proposals, generally contributing to sections in which understanding of the substantive area is vital, assisting with communications with clients, consultants, and members of the research community, and obtaining information about and interpreting upcoming and issued Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Applications, Program Announcements, and other solicitation information.
This position requires a mix of professional skills including: strong verbal communication and presentation skills, the ability to effectively coordinate the efforts of multi-disciplinary teams, budget and finance skills and the capacity to effectively spread attention and effort across several responsibilities simultaneously.
Required Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in health informatics
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; Masters’ Degree in informatics preferred
Prior experience managing federal government contracts and writing federal proposals is highly desirable
