Fulbright Scholar Program Opportunities in Brazil

Posted by on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in Uncategorized .

Over the last few years, the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program has greatly expanded worldwide award offerings for scholars within five years post-Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree). The program to Brazil, in particular, offers an award specifically for early career scholars:

Postdoctoral Scholar Award in All Disciplines (Award 7450)

The award presents an excellent opportunity for recently minted Ph.D.s to deepen their expertise, acquire new skills, work with additional resources and make connections with others in their field. Postdoctoral awards are available in STEM fields, the arts, humanities and social sciences. In addition to conducting research in any specialization of interest, grantees to Brazil can teach courses, offer periodic seminars in their area of research, mentor graduate and undergraduate students and help to enhance interdisciplinary teaching and research at a Brazilian host institution. While Portuguese language proficiency is helpful, is not required to apply.

The Fulbright Scholar Program to Brazil offers additional grants through its main All Disciplines award, as well as numerous Distinguished Chair awards.

Feel free to visit the Catalog of Awards for further details on these and other opportunities, including the wealth of awards for which postdoctoral scholars are encouraged to apply. Helpful resources, including sample project statements, tips for applying and content guidelines, are available at http://www.cies.org/us_scholars/us_awards/.

The application deadline for the 2017-18 Fulbright U.S. Scholar competition is August 1, 2016, leaving ample time to start an application submission. I hope you will share this information with interested postdocs and administrators in your network, and I would be happy to answer any questions.
