Adventure Science Center’s TWISTER (Tennessee Women in Science Technology Engineering and Research) Seeking STEM Women Presenters

Posted by on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in Uncategorized .

Adventure Science Center's annual TWISTER (Tennessee Women in Science Technology Engineering and Research) is a daylong professional conference for high school girls, presented by women working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) professions. During a 55-minute session, presenters share details about their careers, answer questions, help steer participants to the right educational pathway, and give a little taste of daily life in the workplace with a hands-on activity.

TWISTER will be on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 7:30am-3:30pm at Adventure Science Center in Nashville, TN.

Adventure Science Center is seeking STEM women to present a session at TWISTER.

To give you a little bit more of an idea of what goes in to being a presenter, throughout December and January our planning committee and Science Center staff work with presenters through a series of optional in-person meetings, phone calls, and training events to develop your session content and the hands-on activity you will do with the students. The session topic and materials are up to you to choose; Adventure Science Center can provide some materials, as this is not intended to be an out of pocket expense. Presenters only need to be present the day of for the time required for their session, but are welcome to stay for the whole conference as well.

There are also volunteer opportunities for TWISTER if you are unable to dedicate the time it takes to be a presenter.
