Vanderbilt Science Policy Group meeting hosts rep from 314 Action

Posted by on Friday, February 24, 2017 in Uncategorized .

The Vanderbilt Science Policy Group will be meeting with a representative from 314 Action on Thursday, March 2nd from 5pm-6pm, 436 Robinson Research Building

314 Action is a nonprofit that was founded by members of the STEM community, grassroots supporters and political activists. 314 Action is concerned that STEM education in the United States is falling further and further behind the rest of the world, that our political leaders continue to deny scientific facts and that Congress fails to fully fund scientific research so we can solve pressing environmental issues like climate change and social problems like gun violence (http://www.314action.org/).

314 Action is interested in having a more visible presence on campuses and to facilitate getting more scientists involved in the political process at all levels, including helping engaged scientists run for office and those who want to focus more on advocacy.

This event is open to all science and engineering students and postdocs.
