Job Opportunity: Data Analyst, African Poultry Multiplication Initiative, World Poultry Foundation, Huntsville, AL

The  World Poultry Foundation, is seeking to hire a contract data analyst for its multi-year African Poultry Multiplication Initiative in Tanzania and Nigeria.

 

The contractor would be responsible for analyzing and reporting on millions of data points collected by sub-grantees, contractors, and farmers in Africa.  Statistics measured would include:

•    Rural village health, gender and economic data

•    Poultry biological and production performance data

•    Poultry Nutritional data

•    Income, profitability, and economic data

•    Regional geographic and demographic data

•    Human nutrition data

This position will require between 20-30+ hours per week, with fewer hours at the outset of the project and more as the data begins flowing in.

This will require infrequent travel to Tanzania and Nigeria.

World Poultry Foundation (WPF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help solve hunger and poverty issues through the production and consumption of poultry, while enabling farmers in economically distressed countries. The African Poultry Multiplication Initiative is primarily funded by a grant by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and is currently focusing on improving lives in Tanzania and Nigeria.  Our expectation is to help improve the lives of millions of families in these countries through our efforts. Our focus is on health and nutrition, economic opportunity, and empowerment of women.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Degree with heavy emphasis in statistics. Background in quantitative genetics or animal breeding would be helpful.

2. Experience in quantitative and qualitative research and analytics

3. Solid knowledge of statistical methods, and software

4. Strong programming skills and statistical modelling using advanced packages (SAS or R)

5. High proficiency in statistical analysis, multivariate testing, qualitative and predictive analytics

6. Some knowledge of smallholder systems and how they work

7. Domain knowledge (poultry industry or systems) would be highly advantageous.

8. Excellent communication skills required

 

COMPENSATION:

Compensation will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
