Job Opportunity: Neuroscience Program Analyst, Vanderbilt Memory & Alzheimer’s Center, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN
The Neuroscience Program Analyst (Health Policy/Services Analyst II) will assist with research activities, including grant and manuscript preparation, for a large NIH clinical research portfolio under the direct guidance of the Center Director. The position emphasizes human subjects research focused on investigating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk factors for abnormal cognitive aging, including mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease. Research outcomes emphasize neuroimaging, neuropsychological, cardiac MRI, and echocardiography variables. Day-to-day activities include scientific/technical writing, supporting and preparing manuscript and grant submissions; preparing scientific presentations; biostatistics collaboration management; working closely with trainees to shepherd projects forward; and serving as an essential resource to faculty, staff, and trainees, including training team members on research dissemination procedures. The position provides an excellent opportunity to refine one’s supervisory, clinical research leadership, and scientific writing skills working with an interdisciplinary team of more than 20 faculty, staff, and trainees.
Specific Responsibilities
Coordinate Research Projects
· Manage all research activities, including designing and facilitating individual research projects (e.g., preparing biostatistics requests, reviewing analytical reports, tracking manuscript progress, proofing materials, preparing online submission materials)
· Coordinate development of new datasets (e.g., data cleaning, data reporting) and conduct data summaries, descriptives, and basic analyses (e.g., correlations, generating scatter plots)
· Maintain detailed documentation of data management and existing work flows to organize ongoing and new projects
Foster Trainee Development & Interdisciplinary Collaborations
· Coordinate weekly team meetings, including facilitating the agenda, preparing relevant materials, and documenting discussions and action items
· Thoroughly train and regularly supervise undergraduate, graduate, and medical students
· Serve as an essential resource to all staff and trainees for research activities
Support Grant Applications, Manuscript Development, & Presentation Development
· Generate written materials, including contributing to peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, grant applications, and progress reports
· Prepare professional presentations for scientific conferences, including building slides, updating slides, and providing feedback on trainee presentation products (e.g., poster presentations)
· Managing all compliance paperwork for research projects and products
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s required (Master’s degree or PhD preferred) and two years of related experience working in a research setting with supervisory experience.
