After Academia: Data Science as a Career
Data Science is a rapidly growing technical career field in almost all major industries. Come hear from two Vanderbilt Ph.D.’s about transitioning from academia to data science, as well as John Wark, Founder and President of the Nashville Software School.

Taylor Murphy has a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and is the Director of Data Operations at Concert Genetics. He has over 5 years of experience in scientific and biomedical research and is focused on revealing valuable insights from data for both Concert Genetics and the greater genetics community.
Shruti Sharma has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt and also completed several years of post-doctoral research at Vanderbilt. She is now a software engineer with Ingram Content Group. She attended Nashville Software School’s web development bootcamp and will be attending the Data Science Bootcamp. John Wark, Founder and President of the Nashville Software School, will share more about their Data Science Bootcamp, including the curriculum, tuition options, job placement services, etc. You will also have the opportunity to get your questions answered about the bootcamp and NSS.
