Insight Genetics (http://www.insightgenetics.com/) is dedicated to improving the lives of cancer patients through the design, development, and deployment of molecular diagnostic assays. Insight Genetics is seeking candidates for an internship in the Quality & Regulatory Affairs Department. The internship will focus primarily on assisting with the effective implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) processes, including the assessment of process within the laboratory.  Individuals will gain exposure to QMS processes and a variety of laboratory procedures and techniques within the Insight Genetics laboratory.

The goals for the internship are as follows:

  • Become familiar with ISO 9001:2015, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and CFR 820 Part 11 requirements
  • Become familiar with FDA process and requirements (e.g. SEED, PMA submissions)
  • Assess the content of documents to ensure that they meet specified requirements
  • Become familiar with document control management 
  • Perform quality assurance assessments of processes within the laboratory
  • Perform maintenance activities within the laboratory
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external audits

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • Internship will be from January – March, 2018. (appx 10-12 weeks).
  • Internship is paid, part-time (8-10 hrs per week)
  • This opportunity will provide exposure to Quality Management Systems, Regulatory Requirements, and integration of the QMS and Regulatory Requirements into laboratory procedures.

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must be a current Vanderbilt University PhD student or a current postdoctoral fellow.
  • All PhD students must have completed all coursework for their degree prior to the start of the internship.
  • Biomedical PhD students must also have passed their qualifying exams before the application deadline.
  • Students and postdocs may not participate in more than one internship at a time.  More than one application may be submitted at a single time, but only one position can be accepted. 
  • If you are not in a department supported by the BRET office, we will also require that you complete a form guaranteeing PI approval to participate in this program.  Please contact Ashley Brady at ashley.brady@vanderbilt.edu for more information.
