Description

The Office of Faculty Development & Diversity fosters excellence across Stanford Medicine through an inclusive faculty community that reflects the global nature of medicine and science today. OFDD offers professional education, leadership programs, networking opportunities, speaker series, and skills-building workshops on cultural considerations, mentorship, unconscious bias, conflict resolution, and other topics critical to creating a positive environment. The Research & Program Officer will implement and administer this vision and mission.

Duties include:

  • Conduct and manage research projects on faculty recruitment, retention, advancement, and diversity. For example, analyze and report on gender and race/ethnicity equity in patient satisfaction and faculty evaluations for presentation to Stanford Medicine leadership and at national conferences.
  • Manage professional education and leadership programs for Stanford Medicine faculty. Target applicable opportunities to faculty. Evaluate existing programs and suggest improvements and/or gaps in programming, including developing and sourcing new programs.
  • Develop and maintain databases on information related to diversity in medicine, including potential research areas, leadership training topics, and assessment methods to plan future research and programming activities.
  • Prepare workshop and training materials on faculty development and diversity topics including leadership, mentorship, unconscious bias, and microaggressions.
  • Write and edit articles for internal and external audiences, including peer-reviewed publications, on topics such as faculty recruitment, retention, advancement, and diversity. Develop relationships with key audiences and publications.
  • Support OFDD in developing content and managing logistics for diversity symposia and cultural competency workshops. Conduct outreach to key constituencies to drive attendance.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interest or educational background in medical school environments, educational programs, professional development activities, program evaluation, and/or diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience conducting research and using statistical analysis.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
