Job Opportunity: Assistant Professor of Biology (Animal Physiologist), Department of Biology, SUNY Geneseo, NY

The mission of the Biology program at Geneseo is to provide students with a broad background in biology, which can be used as a solid foundation for various careers in the biological sciences and medicine. We also want students to appreciate and value biological diversity and to leave the program with an increased sense of stewardship for the earth.

The Department of Biology at SUNY Geneseo is seeking applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor position with a focus on Animal Physiology to begin August 2019. Duties include:

• Teach a range of biology lecture and laboratory courses at the undergraduate level, including and especially courses in Animal Physiology.
• Establish an active research program.
• Provide academic advisement to students.
• Mentor and supervise undergraduate research.
• Contribute to governance through service at the department and college level.
• Contribute through service to the discipline and/or community.
Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline conferred by August 2019.
• Qualified to teach an upper level major course and lab in animal physiology and other required courses for majors or non-majors.
• Demonstrated interest in undergraduate teaching and research.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an undergraduate research program in animal physiology sufficient to publish in peer-reviewed journals and seek external funding.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and constituents in support of the campus and department mission.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in teaching courses and laboratories related to animal physiology and other courses offered by the major.
• Relevant research publications and postdoctoral research experience in some area of animal physiology, with preference given to those using invertebrate or non-mammalian systems.
