Our team supports Bayer’s Plant Biotechnology product development pipeline.  Our mission is to help farmers around the world growing food more sustainably – from seed to software, to fiber and fuel, we’re developing tools to help growers protect natural resources while providing nourishment to the world.  In the face of a changing climate and other environmental challenges, we’re providing solutions to ensure that our agricultural system continues to suit the needs of everyone.  This person will be a vital supporter of expanding/implementing our proteomics capabilities with aims to assess low resolution structure of proteins and protein/receptor complexes via structural proteomics techniques (e.g. HDX, oxidative footprinting), target identification for mechanistic investigation, and quantitative protein expression in plants (e.g. isobaric tagging and/or label-free analysis) – the role will partner with Protein Engineers, Structural Biologists, Biophysicists, Genomic Data Scientists and Plant Biologists.  This position will be assay development-centric and we are looking for a highly motivated candidate who has a strong academic background in biological sciences.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Bioanalytical Scientist, are to:

  • Conduct research and contribute to research projects, technologies, publications as primary author, intellectual property, or trade secrets;
  • Lead scientific and technical projects;
  • Design, conduct and interpret complex experiments;
  • Develop and implement research and/or technology-driven proposals;
  • Be a primary author for scientific reports;
  • Effectively communicate research findings;
  • Assume project leadership and/or supervisory functions;
  • Apply defined scientific principles to solve complex scientific problems;
  • Exploit new developments from the scientific literature to aid in problem solving;
  • Demonstrate a sustained high level of technical skill and achievement;
  • Keep abreast of new science and technological developments and exploit them to continuously improve functional area capabilities;
  • Foster team-based approach to research;
  • Interact with colleagues in other functions and other departments to solve problems

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
