Main functions

Work on microbial genetic engineering and strain development projects with an emphasis on optimizing enzyme activity and expression. Perform research in key areas including: protein expression, genetic engineering, fermentation science, data interpretation, and reporting. Interact with a variety of teams across the company and participate in multi-disciplinary projects with molecular biologists, bioprocess scientists, process engineers and protein scientists, to deliver high quality data to help solve complex problems.Technical skills


  • Must possess education/coursework in: Protein engineering; Protein structural biology, protein structure-function relationship; in silico computational structural biology tools;
  • Microbial genetic engineering techniques;
  • Heterologous protein expression in yeast and/or bacteria;
  • Interpretation and use of modern bioinformatic analysis techniques;
  • Protein biophysics knowledge and techniques.
