2020 Federal STEM Policy & Advocacy Virtual Seminars
The VU and VUMC Offices of Federal Relations, together with several campus partners including the BRET Office of Career Development ASPIRE Program, are hosting two virtual events this fall for the Vanderbilt community to learn more about federal STEM policy and advocacy, and careers in science policy.
October 19: Panel discussion with AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellows
In this panel discussion, current and former AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellows will discuss the program and the opportunities it provides for scientists to become engaged in science policy work. This event is appropriate for anyone interested in a career in science policy or government affairs.
October 29: Panel discussion with Vanderbilt’s Offices of Federal Relations
Participants will hear from members of Vanderbilt University’s and Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Offices of Federal Relations about their offices’ missions and how they advance the federal policy priorities of VU and VUMC. Topics discussed during this presentation will include:
- What are VU and VUMC’s federal priorities?
- What is science policy and how do we advocate for it?
- How do we advance our federal priorities and shape public policy?
Together, these two panel presentations will compliment the (free) 2020 AAAS Science & Technology Policy Forum, happening virtually on October 13-14, 2020.
Advance registration is required for all events. To learn more and register, please visit https://www.vanderbilt.edu/federalrelations/for-vanderbilt-community/VU-STEM-Policy-virtual.php
