Lead Research Scientist and Science Instructor Position

Baylor School, Chattanooga, TN

Baylor School is an independent boarding school located in Chattanooga, TN. They have a unique program called Baylor Research, and, as the name suggests, it provides research experiences for students in their upper school (9th – 12th grade).

Baylor School is hiring for the faculty position of full-time Lead Research Scientist and Science Instructor in the upper school to begin in the 21-22 school year. The highly qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in science (master’s or PhD in science preferred) and have a record of teaching/student advisement. Successful candidates will bring both the ability to lead students in real-life research in the candidate’s own field using Baylor’s fully furnished Molecular Biology lab as well and be able to teach a range of Life Science courses (preferably including all levels of Biology and Molecular Methods). Special consideration will be given to versatile candidates able to fill a variety of roles including coaching and living on-campus.

As with all openings, Baylor seeks candidates eager to enrich a diverse and inclusive community and support a multi-faceted educational program designed to address the needs of the “whole person.” For that reason, successful candidates display clear cultural competence, promise to make some significant contribution to the school community beyond their office or classroom, and exemplify the virtues that Baylor hopes to instill in its students.

Applicants should submit as a single, combined PDF: a cover letter, a completed faculty application, a resumé, and a transcript to William Montgomery, Dean of Faculty.
