VPA Executive Committee Elections; Nominations now accepted with June 30th deadline; Elections in July
Next month the Vanderbilt Postdoctoral Association will have elections for next year’s VPA Executive Committee. You may now self-nominate or be nominated by submitting a short statement (up to 300 words please) to postdoc@vanderbilt.edu . Your nomination may be part of the election information, so please introduce yourself and detail which positions you might be interested in.
Although nominations are being accepted now, you might consider attending the June 11th 4PM Town Hall Meeting, with details in the upcoming VPA newsletter, before sending nominations.
The deadline for nominations is June 30th.
Elections will occur in July. The ten nominated postdocs with the most votes will become next year’s VPA Executive Committee, with their first order of business to determine who will be responsible for each position.

The VPA Executive Committee is a group of volunteer postdocs who support the Vanderbilt postdoc community through scholarly and social events and information sharing as we work primarily with the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, but also additional groups in the Vanderbilt community. Many of our current Committee were new postdocs when they joined, so don’t let that be an obstacle if you want to get involved!
Our big event each year is planning the annual Symposium, but we also host and assist with several smaller seminars and panel discussions, and the postdocs awards ceremony. Like last year, the Symposium will occur this Fall. It is highly recommended that you bring your talents to next year’s VPA Committee!
