We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join the cardiovascular group within the Therapeutic Discovery team. You will partner with and assist project teams through the development and execution of cell-based assays to assess novel recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors. You will be expected to have strong technical, laboratory, and documentation skills.

You will utilize your talents to independently design and execute experiments using a wide variety of cell and molecular biology techniques to test the therapeutic potential of rAAV vectors and generate data that will drive decisions around new disease opportunities. You will be joining an experienced research team that is responsible for discovering lead rAAV vectors for continued preclinical development. Laboratory activities will constitute approximately 70% of the time.

  • Develop and optimize mRNA (qPCR), protein (ELISA, Western blot, ICC) and functional assays (calcium imaging, multi-electrode arrays) to be applied across multiple projects and programs
  • Maintain multiple cell types in culture, including iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, and perform transient transfection and rAAV transduction experiments for gene expression
  • Design, execute, analyze, and interpret cell-based assays using multiple in vitro disease models
  • Conduct molecular cloning and preparation of rAAV transgene constructs
  • May participate in technology development related to cell biology.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of laboratory activities via electronic documentation
  • Technical writing of procedures, protocols, and reports
  • Maintain and update knowledge of instrumentation and laboratory needs
  • Conduct troubleshooting analysis
  • Perform other essential responsibilities as applicable
