AAI Public Policy Fellows Program Applications

Twelfth Year of Public Policy Program for Early Career Scientists!

Do you want to learn more about science policy and how critical funding decisions are made by federal legislators and Administration officials? Have you wondered whether — and how — you might be able to make a difference in the laws and policies that affect your profession and career? If so, consider applying to this unique program that will engage you in AAI public affairs activities, all without leaving your training program or job.

The AAI PPFP enables early career researchers, who are within 15 years of receiving their terminal degree, to participate in a year-long program that explores how federal legislative action and agency policymaking impact the conduct and funding of biomedical research — and how AAI works on behalf of its members for the best possible outcome.

Application Deadline: January 19, 2022

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to advocate for biomedical research on Capitol Hill and to participate in AAI public affairs activities at the AAI annual meeting. Other than the trip to Washington, D.C. (likely in March 2023), Fellows will not need to leave their institutions or labs. The AAI Committee on Public Affairs and AAI public affairs staff will keep Fellows informed and engaged via virtual meetings and email throughout the year.

Please see the letter of invitation from AAI President Gary A. Koretzky, M.D., Ph.D., and AAI Committee on Public Affairs Chair Peter E. Jensen, M.D., for more information about the program.
