Job Opportunity: Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology, Lawrence University – Appleton, WI

Lawrence University of Wisconsin, a selective undergraduate liberal arts college and conservatory of music located in Appleton, Wisconsin, invites applications for a two-year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2022.

Requirements:

Applicants should hold a PhD in biology or related discipline and be interested in working closely with
undergraduate students.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching cell biology, molecular biology, and an upper-level course in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Teaching Details:

The teaching load is two non-lab courses (or one course with two lab sections) per trimester on a 10-week trimester calendar. Laboratory space, funds to support research, and support for professional development will be available. The department is involved in an HHMI-funded inclusive pedagogy initiative and the successful candidate would be welcome to participate in any workshops and/or trainings associated with this initiative. We encourage applications from individuals who will help us
create a more inclusive Lawrence by: (1) further diversifying the faculty; (2) constructing or
contributing to successful diversity-related initiatives, creative activity, or research; and/or (3)
contribute to the department’s ongoing efforts to develop and implement inclusive pedagogy
to address the needs of a diverse student body, particularly as these pedagogies relate to
antiracism.
