Come learn more about the Scientist Mentoring Diversity Program (SMDP) at an information session with Program Director, Dustielyn Savage, February 23, 2023.  Vanderbilt’s IMSD Program and BRET Office of Career Development will be hosting Ms. Savage on campus for you to meet her and learn more about the SMDP Biotech and SMDP Medtech Programs.

What is SMDP?
The one year career mentoring program pairs ethnically diverse students (Baccalaureate, Master or Ph.D.) and early career researchers with industry mentors who work at companies in the medical technology, biotechnology and consumer healthcare industries.
With their mentors, Scholars attend a 5-day training session to learn about career opportunities in industry and receive career development coaching. They also attend a major industry conference.

We will also be hearing from past Vanderbilt alumni who were SMDP scholars.

  • Don Davis, Jr. PhD, Analytical Chemist, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, 2021-2022 SMDP Scholar and 2022 Assistant Mentor
  • Bianca Flores, PhD, Science Officer II, Goldbelt Frontier, LLC, 2018-2019 SMDP Scholar
