Posted by on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in Job Opportunities .

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the Uniformed Services University (USU) of the Health Sciences, Bethesda MD is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with strong immunology experience to join our group in summer 2023. Our research seeks to contribute to improved treatment for the neglected tropical disease, cutaneous leishmaniasis, by developing novel oral and topical therapies in a mouse model, that could rapidly translate to human clinical trials. Our projects focus on understanding the local and systemic adaptive immune responses to this intracellular parasite and resulting wound, to establish and test targeted therapies. Strong research interest and experience in immunology, molecular biology and animal handling are required for this position. Qualified candidates will have a doctorate in immunology, parasitology, microbiology or a closely-related field, preference for hands on experience with mouse models.

USU is in Bethesda, MD directly across the street from the NIH, and only 2 miles from the military medical research institutes, and is, therefore, part of an extraordinarily vibrant local biomedical research community. Our research projects leverage excellent Core facilities for flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, animal medicine, Nextgen sequencing and bioinformatics. USU has a strongly collaborative environment, with weekly immunology data club, journal club, as well as regular research seminars featuring both local and invited speakers.

Candidates should apply to the Henry M. Jackson Foundation http://careers.hjf.org, submitting a CV and names/contact information for 3 references. For more information please contact Dr. Aronson directly at naomi.aronson@usuhs.edu
