Join the Cruchaga Lab: Exciting Postdoctoral Research Associate Positions in Alzheimer’s Disease

Posted by on Friday, October 4, 2024 in Announcements, Job Opportunities .

Are you passionate about genetics and genomics research in the field of neurodegeneration? The Cruchaga Lab at Washington University School of Medicine is on the lookout for multiple Postdoctoral Research Scientists to join their dynamic team.

About the Cruchaga Lab and NGI

The NeuroGenomics and Informatics Center (NGI) is at the forefront of generating and analyzing Whole-Genome Sequencing data and high-throughput, multi-dimensional data. Their focus is on understanding neurodegeneration and central nervous system diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other dementias. The NGI aims to uncover the biology of these diseases, identify novel biomarkers, and discover new therapeutic targets.

Why Join?

The NGI has received several NIH R01 awards to generate and analyze large WGS datasets for both familial and sporadic early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease cases. They are looking for dedicated researchers with strong analytical skills in genetics and WGS/WES analyses to lead these projects. You will be part of a robust team of over 30 members, including postdocs, PhD students, and senior scientists, all working together in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A PhD in Genetics Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistical Genomics, or a related field
  • Experience with PLINK, SKAT, FUSION, BWA, and/or GATK in large-scale genomic studies
  • Skills in colocalization and Mendelian randomization
  • Proficiency in programming (R, Python, or Perl) and experience with Linux or high performance clusters
  • Strong analytical reasoning and familiarity with publicly available resources

Environment

At the Cruchaga Lab, you will work in a collaborative setting that emphasized functional genomics and high-dimensional omics data analysis. The lab is a part of the NGI, home to experts in genetics, multi-omics, machine learning, and clinical research, providing a fertile ground for scientific innovation.
