Job Opportunity: Program Manager, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN
The program manager supports the Aspirnaut™ program, a K-20 STEM pipeline program to increase the numbers and diversity of the STEM workforce and reports directly to the Associate Director. The program manager works with the Executive Director and Associate Director to plan, coordinate, and execute the summer research internship program and all other activities associated with the Aspirnaut™ program.
The program manager:
• Develops and implements logistics necessary to successfully carry out the summer research internship program including the application and acceptance process, onboarding, scheduling, meals, parking, residential life, and more.
• Interacts and provides daily communication with students, faculty, administrators, and staff to foster an environment of belonging, team-work, and professional growth.
• Provides technical and/or professional leadership in the execution of day-to-day program/project activities.
• Analyzes data and prepares reports to inform and make recommendations for the program’s ongoing development.
• Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects with quick deadlines and feedback from program leadership.
• Provides information about the program in response to inquiries from faculty, staff, students, and educators from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and levels of education.
• Maximize annual budgets through negotiating, and monitoring agreements for the procurement of services, supplies, and equipment, including housing, testing, and supply contracts.
• Possess excellent interpersonal, professional, and written communication skills.
• Attends to administrative situations as necessary and serves as primary point of contact between the office, student, and external constituencies on a range of day-to-day issues.
The role involves limited travel throughout the academic year. Evening, night, and weekend work are expected during the summer program. Flexibility and growth regarding an evolving role are critical to the success of this position.
