Posted by on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Job Opportunities .

COMPANY:
Omada Health is leading the field of digital therapeutics by creating innovative, scalable, and cost-effective online behavior change programs that address the growing epidemic of chronic disease. Our flagship product Prevent is based on the landmark Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), and has been shown in a clinical trial to help people lose weight and positively impact the risk factors that contribute to type 2 diabetes. Prevent engages participants with an evidence-based curriculum, a supportive social network, the constant guidance of a personal health coach, and digital tracking tools that include a wireless scale and mobile app. We offer Prevent directly to consumers, as well as provide measurable outcomes and performance-based pricing to major corporations, health plans, and integrated delivery networks.

ROLE:
We are hiring two researchers to help pioneer the field of digital therapeutics by joining our Medical Affairs team as Clinical Research Scientists:
1) The generalist role will focus on designing and conducting clinical research trials, conducting statistical analyses, and applying for NIH SBIR/STTR grants. 2) The specialist role will focus on being the Primary Investigator on a Medicaid clinical trial and conducting health services research.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Generalist Role:

  • Design and conduct research studies (pilot and clinical trials) to evaluate the efficacy of our programs in commercial populations
  • Conduct statistical analyses for external and internal research
  • Grant writing and management (create a successful in-house program of NIH SBIR/STTR funding, continuing on our current SBIR Phase I grant)

Specialist Role:

  • Design and conduct a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of Prevent in a Medicaid (primarily low-income/Latino) population
  • Serve as study PI and coordinate with a health plan and their clinicians/researchers to manage trial implementation and publication
  • Conduct other health services research (e.g. Medicare populations).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree in health/scientific field (e.g. PhD, MD, MPH). Relevant fields include clinical/health psychology, medicine/behavioral medicine, health services/clinical services, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics.
  • Expertise with clinical research (e.g. with patient populations and preferably behavioral interventions; not just basic science/lab research)
  • Expertise in clinical trial design and statistics (e.g. human subjects experimental design and longitudinal data analyses like mixed models)
  • Experience with grant writing (NIH SBIR/STTR grants is a plus)
  • Experience with digital/mobile health interventions is a plus
  • Ability to independently plan and manage complex, long-term research projects, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to clearly communicate research/data to varied audiences
  • Background and personal interest in health, nutrition, and fitness
  • Proactive, collaborative, agreeable, and empathic personality

BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k plan
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Discounts on personal Apple purchases
  • Perks (e.g. healthy office food/outings and $60/month CSA allowance)

TO APPLY, INCLUDE:
1. CV (since scientists don’t do ‘resumes’)
2. Cover Letter (for each position(s), tell us why you’re a great fit).

In your cover letter, please include a radically honest self-assessment, ranking your abilities in these three domains: 1) designing and conducting clinical research trials (with human subjects/behavioral treatments), 2) conducting statistical analyses and writing grants, 3) interpersonal intelligence.
