The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff.

Location: Philadelphia, PA

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure research track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Pediatric Neurology with a focus on Pediatric Cerebrovascular Physiology Research particularly biophysics (specifically optical imaging), Neuroscience and Bioengineering. Responsibilities include developing advanced optical sensing and imaging technology for neuromonitoring/neuroprotection protocols, functional brain imaging, and design and conduct of in vivo preclinical research in hypoxic-ischemic brain injury or related field; participation as an active member of the interdisciplinary research team;and development of an independent research program involving novel approaches such as optical sensing and imaging, nanophotonics, spectroscopy and analytical instrumentation. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

The applicant should have significant experience with FD-NIRS and ultrafast lasers and optical spectroscopy as well as with various optical imaging techniques such as TD-NIRS. Programming skills for image analysis, data and signal processing, instrument control, and statistical analysis are required. The applicant should also have an excellent publication record.
