VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSORS OF BIOLOGY

The Department of Biology at Kalamazoo College invites applications for two visiting positions during the winter and spring terms, beginning January 2019 and ending June 2019. Responsibilities for one position include teaching upper-level courses in Biochemistry with laboratory and for the other position upper-level courses in Advanced Molecular Biology/Genetics with laboratory. Both positions will also teach an upper-level course in a biomedical science with laboratory (e.g. immunology, microbiology, virology, cancer biology, etc. as best fits the candidate’s expertise and program needs).  A completed Ph.D. is required and post-doctoral experience is preferred.  Candidates are expected to have a high aptitude and interest in undergraduate teaching, and a commitment to the liberal arts.  Review of applications will commence May 15, 2018 and will continue until the positions are filled.  Kalamazoo College desires applicants who are committed to promoting access and success for all students, and strongly encourages candidates who will contribute to the cultural diversity of the College to identify themselves if they wish. Kalamazoo College is a highly selective, nationally known liberal arts college of approximately 1400 motivated students offering an integrated undergraduate experience that weaves a traditional liberal arts curriculum into domestic and international educational experiences.  The Biology Department graduates about 50 majors each year, including many who pursue graduate-level work in the discipline.  The campus is located midway between Chicago and Detroit in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a metropolitan community of 225,000 which supports several college and university campuses along with numerous civic arts and cultural associations.  Thirty-five miles from Lake Michigan, the area offers many opportunities for outdoor activities.
