Life Science Tennessee Internship – Workforce Development
Fall 2014 and Spring 2015

This internship presents an opportunity for a life science graduate student to explore alternative career paths by networking with Life Science Tennessee members as well as an opportunity to hone marketing and communications skills.

Life Science Tennessee is seeking an intern to work approximately 8-15 hours per week on a project supporting the association’s Education and Workforce Development (WFD) Committee initiatives. Initiatives include

  • develop an internship handbook for Life Science Tennessee members;
  • inventory all existing life science internships in the state;
  • create a catalogue of bioscience and related life science degree and certificate programs; and
  • promote the Life Science Tennessee career center and resume center to members.

These initiatives support the WFD committee’s goal to enhance industry experience among Tennessee graduates by fostering the development of meaningful intern and externships that will provide undergraduate and graduate students with much needed hands-on experience and industry exposure.

To complete the assigned project, the Life Science Tennessee intern will interact with high-level industry executives as well as policy makers and academic partners. We are seeking a graduate student in a life science field. This internship offers an individual an opportunity to refine project management, communications, marketing and networking skills.

The 8-15 hours may be conducted at the Life Science Tennessee office in downtown Nashville or from the intern’s home or school. At a minimum the intern would be expected to be available for a biweekly in-person meeting and a weekly conference call.  The intern would be invited to attend all Life Science Tennessee events that take place throughout the year.

To apply, email Sally Anderson Parker at sanderson@lifesciencetn.org or call 615.242.8856.
