Job Description:
Joining Putnam as a Life Sciences Consultant is a unique opportunity to gain insight into and influence the strategic challenges facing today’s leading life sciences companies. The complexities of the industry provide ample opportunity for Life Sciences Consultants to leverage their substantial science training as they gain a commanding knowledge of both the science and business sides of healthcare. Putnam’s specific industry focus together with its boutique firm size encourages our team members to assume considerable responsibility from the start. Life Sciences Consultants are expected to hit the ground running, quickly ascending a steep learning curve in order to master the core skills required to optimize commercial strategies for our clients.

You will be instrumental in developing the building blocks that lead to strategic recommendations. As a key member of Putnam’s team-based approach, you will help identify critical issues, develop major analytical components and help construct the ultimate conclusions and recommendations. In order to successfully conduct complex quantitative and strategic analyses you will develop mastery of an array of advanced programs and tools. In your role as a team leader, you will be expected to manage multiple work streams on each project and assist in driving team operations by overseeing and shaping the work of Analysts and Associates.

We are seeking highly intelligent and self-motivated candidates with PhD or MDs from top schools who have demonstrated excellence and leadership both as undergraduates, graduates and during any previous employment opportunities. Proven analytic abilities, a rigorous quantitative background and a strong record of independent problem-solving are required. PhDs in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics or Engineering are most desirable. PhD candidates within one year of graduation will also be considered with an anticipated start date by summer 2014. A demonstrated passion for health care or the life sciences is essential. An active interest in commercial strategy or the business side of health care is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:
Base salary for the Life Sciences Consultant position is highly competitive and is supplemented by excellent year-end performance-based bonus potential. Additional benefits include a 401(k) plan, health, dental and disability insurance, 3 weeks of paid vacation, tuition reimbursement and a comprehensive Training Program.
