Description:

The Department of Defense (DoD) offers the NDSEG fellowship as a means of increasing the number of U.S. citizens and nationals trained in science and engineering disciplines of military importance. This is a highly competitive, portable fellowship that is awarded to students who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in one or more of eighteen supported disciplines. Applicants must propose a DoD agency to sponsor their project. Research proposals must also respond to a specific BAA published by one such agency. Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) are used by government agencies to solicit proposals focused on advancing basic science rather than a specific technology or product. For the purposes of applying for the NDSEG Fellowship, students should carefully review the research interests described in the active BAAs. The Fellowship offers support for three years, and recipients do not incur any military or other service obligations.
