The BRET Office of Career Development recorded the November session of PhD Career Connections about Science Policy. The video of the presentation by Dr. Kenny Gibbs is now available for viewing online at http://bit.ly/1bhAmIO. Dr. Gibbs discussed his transition from PhD to AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow and then NCI Cancer Prevention Fellow.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science manages and administers Science & Technology Policy Fellowships in five program areas to provide the opportunity for accomplished scientists and engineers to participate in and contribute to the federal policymaking process while learning firsthand about the intersection of science and policy. The fellowship programs have several basic requirements.

Presidential Management Fellows program to add pilot STEM track

It was created more than three decades ago by Executive Order. Historically, the PMF program was designed for public policy students, but PMF opened to all degree programs in 1982. In 2010, the program changed again to allow applications both from graduate students who will finish their advanced degree in the upcoming academic year, as well as from recent alumni who completed their advanced degree training in the previous two years.
